Spontaneous Parametric Down Conversion (SPDC)
SPDC converts a single high-energy pump photon into a pair of lower-energy photons via a phase-matched nonlinear medium. This quantum process generates correlated or entangled photon pairs for applications in quantum optics, communication, and sensing.
